The concept of blogging has intrigued me for some time, so I've finally ventured into the blogging world! As many of you know, my hubby is deployed with the US Navy again! This is our 9th deployment and it's grown increasingly difficult. I always used to think that the more you do something the easier it becomes...not the case! I'm at a different place in my life with each deployment which makes each one a challenge, but this one in particular is following 4 other deployments since 2003 and Kevin is serving in his 3rd straight back to back sea duty billet...i.e. for those who aren't familiar with the Navy...a whole lot of time away from home! The deployments are before I count schools and detachments etc. He has been gone at least 50% of the time in the last 7 years. So it's taking it's toll on all of us, but we're strong.
Okay, so I need to get to the point...I find myself down a lot these days, hanging around on Facebook a lot hoping to catch somebody to chat with or catch up with. We don't have family living real close by, so even with friends it gets a little lonely. A lot of my friends aren't in the same shoes so no matter how much your welcome and they want you around, it's still awkward because their husbands are sitting in the living room with you...but where's mine? Know what I mean? So, I realized last night that I should be journalizing this stuff and for several reasons. This is a great way for Kevin to catch up and read about what's happening at home. It's very hard at the end of a long day to remember to tell Kevin everything in an e-mail without making it a book or sending a bajillion e-mails. Now I can sit down and think in journal mode and he can read it. Secondly, I've wanted to journalize more and now I can and I need to spend a lot less time on Facebook! The last reason, what a great way to keep family in touch with what we're up too. Haha...so here I sit.
Today was a really good day. It's been months since I've been to church and I hadn't realized how disconnected I'd become. It was a great morning, there were no fights trying to get to church and the messages were great. Exactly what I needed and now I have my new found friend, my blog to sit and think about things. I think this is a great start to a new week. Can't stay on long today, gotta get over to a friends for some pictures for Kevin and then gotta get ready for the week. I look forward to writing on you frequently! Ta-ta for now!
